Our goal is to tell that story in photographs artistically, and in all its emotional beauty, elegance, elation and tears. ....................................................................................................................................back Q. How far in advance should we secure photography for our date? A. Many couples commission their photographer of choice and secure their date up to a year in advance to ensure that photographer does not get commissioned by someone else. ....................................................................................................................................back Q. This retainer is applied directly to your commission. ....................................................................................................................................back Q. Who will our photographer be? A. All weddings are photographed exclusively by our founder, Andrew James Ferguson, L.P.P.O. All photographs in the Stories in Light galleries are his works. Who owns the copyrights to these images? A. Where a digital image disc is part of your plan, you are welcome to print any photograph for personal use. Stories in Light retains copyrights to all photographs for third party or commercial use (i.e. your banquet hall asks to use a photograph to promote its business or a magazine has written an article about your wedding). Permissions to reproduce these photographs must be obtained from Stories in Light in these, or similar circumstances. ....................................................................................................................................back Q. Will we see / receive all the photographs taken? A. There is no limit to the number of photographs Stories in Light makes on your wedding day. After the wedding, a selection of "photographers picks" (typically 200 - 300 per 6-hr coverage) become your complete photo narrative (i.e. best of the best). Photographs with unflattering expressions, closed eyes etc. will have been removed. ....................................................................................................................................back Q. Are proofs included and are they unmarked? A. One set of unmarked (i.e. no studio logo / name in center of photograph) 4x6 prints are typically part of most plans unless otherwise declined by you. ....................................................................................................................................back Q. Do you offer colour, black & white or sepia treatments for any photograph? A. Absolutely. All photographs are originally made in colour with the option to have us convert into black & white or sepia. It is actually customary for us to automatically create a selection of photographs in colour and black & white as part of your proofs unless otherwise declined by you. ....................................................................................................................................back Q. Are there any touch-ups, enhancements or art effects applied to photographs? A. Depending on the nature of the finished product, treatments to photographs range from density / exposure (proofs & digital negatives) to a full enhancement including complexion and line softening, blemish diminishing, eye and teeth brightening (custom prints). In the case of bridal albums, an additional stage of artistic treatments may also be applied as deemed appropriate where such treatments add to the album design and story. ....................................................................................................................................back Q. When will our photographs be ready? A. Typically proofs are ready for you within 3-5 weeks from the wedding with custom prints ready within 2-3 weeks from ordering. ....................................................................................................................................back Q. Do you offer "coffee table" books or albums? A. Stories in Light has partnered with a select group of quality album craftspeople enabling us to offer you a wide range of album styles and finishes including coffee table books, flushmount albums, contemporary and classic albums, many finished with specialty papers. ....................................................................................................................................back Q. Will we have any input into the design of our album? A. This is your personal wedding story. Couples will therefore typically make the initial selections of photographs to become part of that story. Stories in Light will then custom design your chosen photographs into a series of album page spreads which you will have final approval on prior to assembly. ....................................................................................................................................back Q. What happens if our photographer is sick / hurt on the day of our wedding? A. As a qualified member of the Professional Photographers of Canada - Ontario, Stories in Light has access to, and developed relationships with, a network of other qualified professionals. These professionals can be called upon such instances to ensure your wedding day will be photographed professionally and agreement obligations fulfilled. ....................................................................................................................................back Q. What happens if it rains? A. If your photography plan includes an outdoor location, an alternative rain option will be part of that plan. Stories in Light will offer suggestions based on the region where your wedding is taking place and what suitable alterntives exist. ....................................................................................................................................back Q. What happens if the photographers camera / equipment malfunctions or breaks? A. Your wedding is a once in a lifetime event that cannot be repeated. Stories in Light is equiped with multiple cameras, lenses, lighting and memory cards etc., prepared to ensure no moment is missed. ....................................................................................................................................back Q. Can we give you a shot list? A. We welcome your list of individuals you wish to be included in various group photographs, keeping in mind that completion will be dependant balancing your other photographic expectations as discussed and part of your photography plan. ....................................................................................................................................back Q. The church has specific rules regarding photography, how do you proceed? A. Stories in Light respects the sanctity of your place of worship and the wishes of your officient (i.e. priest, minister etc.). Guidlines for photography are often available in print from them.
